As one of the largest coastal forests in East Africa after Arabuko-Sokoke Forest, this reserve is rich in flora and fauna and hosts the highest density of antelopes in Kenya. Other animal species found in the area are buffalos, bushy tailed mongoose and other small mammals like fruit bats. The forest is an important bird area and is endowed with forest birdlife while the grasslands hold localized species such as red-necked-Spur fowl, Croaking Cisticola and Zanzibar Red Bishop.
Early morning pick up at 06:30 a.m. from your respective hotel, and then depart for Shimba Hills National Reserve for game drives. Have a chance to see the rare sable antelopes which are only found at Shimba Hills National Reserve. Other kinds of animals to be spotted are Buffalos, elephants, giraffes, impalas, Columbus monkeys and different bird’s species. On a clear day you can see the outline of Usambara Mountains in Tanzania.
A warm welcome awaits you at the only Tree Hotel at Kenyan Coast for lunch (Shimba Tree Lodge). Afternoon visit to Sheldrick falls followed by a 4 km fairly strenuous walk through magnificent forest landscape. Later game drives en route to Diani, droppoff at the Ukunda Airstrip at 4:00pm., (Lunch).
